FilAm ARTS Presents: S3 - Sweet, Savory and Sommelier Fundraiser

You are cordially invited to an Exclusive Wine and Fine Chocolate Tasting featuring Filipino inspired chocolate creations from Marti Chocolatt paired with an exclusive selection of wines specially choiced by Santos Uy (Mignon, Bacaro).

TICKETS: http://filamartschocolatew inepairing.eventbrite.com/

Join us for this special fundraiser, an evening pairing Filipino-inspired chocolates and wines at Kazuyo Sushi, a Filipino-owned Japanese restaurant, with all proceeds supporting FilAm ARTS. Tonet Tibay of Marti Chocolatt is a Filipina chocolatier who incorporates Filipino flavors in her chocolates, which for this tasting will include the following:

Ube ~ purple yam in a white chocolate ganache
Durian ~ durian in 33% milk chocolate
Senorita ~ sweet ripe bananas with dark Jamaican rum in a milk chocolate ganache
Jasmine Citron ~ queen of jasmine pearl tea with grapefruit zest
Barako ~ Liberica coffee beans in a milk chocolate ganache
Pina - pineapple caramel with Ilocano sea salt

Santos Uy, owner of Mignon Wine and Cheese Bar, is a Filipino sommelier very much in touch with our home food and as a result, knows just the right wines to pair with Tonet's delicious offerings.

General admission to this special culinary event will include the chocolate and wine pairing (six chocolates and four wines) at $35.
VIP admission includes the chocolate and wine pairing plus a box of chocolates and wine to take home for $75.
Event capacity is limited and PREFERENCE will be given to those attendees who pre-pay for the event.

If you'd like to dine before the event at Kazuyo Sushi, Kazuyo is offering a special 15% discount for all attendees who mention FilAm ARTS when they make their dinner reservations or when they walk into the restaurant.*

*NOTE: Kazuyo has some Japanese dishes that Filipino Chef-Owner, Joe Cubangbang added Filipino touches to, so the dishes to look for include:

Miso Soup ~ Inspiration from Sinigang
Banzai Roll ~ Inspiration from Embutido
Seared Garlic Albacore Sashimi ~ Inspiration from Adobo
Spicy Tuna Biscuit ~ Savory Inspiration from Bibingka Malagit
Ramen ~ Inspiration from Mami Soup

This will definitely be a chocolate and wine tasting you've never experienced before, so we hope you'll join us for this tasty adventure and support FilAm ARTS at the same time.

Additional donations are appreciated, and benefit The Association for the Advancement of Filipino American Arts and Culture, also known as FilAm ARTS, a multi-disciplinary community arts organization whose mission is to advance the understanding of the arts and diverse cultural heritage of Filipinos in the United States. FilAm ARTS is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization; donations are tax-deductible.

FPAC 20 - A Call Out to All Artists

Applications can be submitted online at http://filamarts.org/fpac/artists/apply

The Annual Festival of Filipino Arts and Culture is Celebrating its 20th Anniversary on Sept. 10-11 at Point Fermin Park, San Pedro, CA, and the planning process is in full swing!  FPAC is the largest celebration of Filipino arts and culture, presenting over 1,000 artists and cultural bearers from all over the nation every year.  If you are interested in performing or displaying art at this year's festival, please apply online and upload the required documents. Submissions are due by July 5, 2011.

We encourage professional, amateur, hobbyist, and traditional artists to apply.  The festival is open to any form of art: Traditional Folk Arts, Dance, Theatre, Music, Visual Arts, Media Arts, Literary Arts, Arts Education, and Presenters.  A submission of your application is an opportunity to reach an audience of over 25,000 people during the FPAC weekend, and it is also an invitation to join the Pilipino Artist Network (PAN). PAN artists are connected to valuable resourcesin their respective disciplines and are identified within an emerging artist network.

All submissions will go through a Curatorial Panel. Each submission will be reviewed by field experts in order to highlight the diversity of the Filipino experience. Each year the festival receives more submissions than we can program. Therefore, this process will be based on artistic quality, potential audience draw and variety of representation of the community.

Artisan Exhibitor booths and PAN Pavilion consignment opportunities are also available, check back soon for these opportunities or call the office at 213.380.FPAC for more information.
