    Eskwela Kultura

An arts education program and series of cultural workshops aimed at teaching Filipino American (FilAm) history, heritage, and arts to the community

    Where culture is the classroom.

Eskwela Kultura is FilAm Arts' signature free youth arts education program, dedicated to connecting the next generation of Filipino Americans to the richness of their cultural heritage through hands-on arts learning. Launched in 2024 and proudly in its second year, Eskwela Kultura brings free, accessible, park-based workshops to youth and families across the greater Los Angeles area — not just once a year, but every quarter.

Rooted in the Filipino value of Kapwa — the recognition that we are all connected — Eskuwela Kultura creates a joyful, welcoming space where young people can explore traditional and contemporary Filipino arts, hear the stories of their ancestors, and discover their own creative voices. From visual arts and performance to cultural storytelling and movement, each workshop is designed to be as educational as it is celebratory.

Eskwela Kultura is for every Filipino American child who has never seen their culture reflected in a classroom. It is for the family that wants to pass something meaningful down. It is for the community that knows that culture is not just history — it is identity, pride, and a living, breathing inheritance.

Best of all? It's completely free and open to all.

Who It's For: Families, youth, elders, and anyone curious about the richness of Filipino arts and culture. No experience necessary. Just show up.

When & Where: Workshops are held quarterly at public parks throughout the greater Los Angeles area, keeping learning open-air, accessible, and rooted in community space.

Funded through Parks California, Eskwela Kultura is made possible by the generous support of funders and partners who believe that every child deserves to know where they come from.

    Teatro

FilAm Arts Teatro is our bridge between the stage and the community.

Through FilAm Arts Teatro, we partner with theater productions across Los Angeles to create meaningful, culturally resonant experiences that go beyond the performance itself. We believe that live theater is one of the most powerful tools for healing, reflection, and solidarity — and that Filipino American communities deserve a seat at that table.

    What We Do:

Post-Show Panel Discussions In partnership with theater companies presenting work that speaks to the Filipino American experience and broader BIPOC narratives, FilAm Arts facilitates post-show conversations that bring artists, cultural practitioners, and community voices together. These panels create space for dialogue around the themes explored on stage — from identity and immigration to healing, resistance, and joy.

Theater Buyouts FilAm Arts curates group theater buyout experiences, making live performance accessible to community members who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend. We organize collective outings to see powerful productions in Los Angeles, creating shared cultural moments that spark connection and conversation.

Theater has always been a mirror for our community's stories. FilAm Arts Teatro ensures that our people don't just see themselves reflected on stage — they have a voice in the conversation that follows.

Want to bring your production to our community? FilAm Arts Teatro welcomes partnerships with theater companies and producers. Become a member for just $1 a month and be part of the artist and organization network we champion, amplify, and collaborate with.

    Artist Collaborations

Our Artist Collaboration program is a community-powered amplification initiative that connects Filipino American artists with the audiences, partners, and platforms they deserve. Through our network of community relationships, media channels, and civic presence, FilAm Arts works alongside member artists as a trusted community partner — helping to broadcast their work, their events, and their stories to the greater Los Angeles area and beyond.

Whether you're a visual artist, performer, musician, filmmaker, or cultural practitioner, FilAm Arts serves as your community collaborator — co-signing your artistry and helping you reach audiences who are ready to receive it.

    What We Offer:

        •    Community outreach and promotion across FilAm Arts' platforms and networks

        •    Partnership support for artist-led events and activations

        •    Visibility through our social media, newsletters, and community channels

        •    Connection to our growing ecosystem of Filipino American creatives, organizations, and supporters

This is equity in action — not just celebrating Filipino American art, but actively working to ensure it is seen, heard, and valued.
